Empowering Others After Medical Trauma Through Writing

There is no good time for a major medical trauma to take place. Unfortunately, they happen. And usually, when we least expect it. Here is a place to come and read some stories on how one person is trying to get through the bad cards. Some people have it worse, some people have it better. It is about perspective. It is how we look at the bad hand we are dealt. I hope these help you find your new identity post trauma.

The ‘Old’ Me

I was a freelance writer previous to my massive stroke in 2017. I had articles published in various publications such as Disney Magazine, Today’s Christian Parenting, and Southern Living’s Garden Guide. For 12 years, I ran a paint-your-own-pottery studio. Years later, I also owned a restaurant in Key West with my husband. I sold my glass art in Sunset Celebration by sunset. Sadly, I suffered a massive stroke with complications in 2017 and everything changed.

My Path to the ‘new’ me

Still Noelle was born from my own personal struggle. I had a massive stroke at age 47. I have struggled on my ‘recovery’ journey, battling depression along the way. I do not want anyone to feel alone with their disability, whatever it may be.

Through my experiences, I offer to you my writing. It is the only craft I’m able to do since the stroke. My hands have ataxia and I have no fine motor skills. I have rigged up my writing station to write the ‘new’ way. These stories are very difficult for me to write, but they are to guide others on similar paths of recovery. It is my hope they offer inspiration and some humor.
